Experience two of the Nordic countries’ most important contemporary artists, now showcasing several new works that revolve around the artist Carl Fredrik Hill.
The Danish-Israeli artist Tal R (b. 1967) and Swedish Mamma Andersson (b. 1962) have both contributed to paving the way for new approaches to 21st century painting and have achieved international recognition for their works. The two artists have succeeded in creating a strong artistic expression, both dealing with the tension between figure and abstraction, reality and fantasy worlds, based on a common view of drawing and painting as a personal, and at the same time universal, human need to express oneself with pen and brush. They also share a significant inspiration from the great masters of art history, a category Tal R and Mamma Andersson are now enrolling in.
In the exhibition Tal R & Mamma Andersson – Around Hill, the two artists engage in Nordic painting, based on Swedish C.F. Hill (1849-1911), whose trembling, almost living landscapes and mystical worlds exude melancholy, symbolism and, for better or worse, a mentally unstable artistic existence. The exhibition als shows parts of the fantastic collection of C.F. Hill’s disease drawings, which formed the basis of the visual and thematic presentation.
