You shot me down, but i won’t fall
For Titanium Gardens, the Brazilian-born Berlin Based artist has created a new sculptural work, the first in a series of installations, a towering monolith structure draped in long black concert curtains followed by a large scale print. Outside of the gallery, a flight-case bench. The imposing physical form, reminiscent of the towering equipment or infrastructure one might find at a music festival or stadium concert, similarly recalls the forms of altars or Mecca, sublime structures built to share devotion and illicit ecstasy. Sainte’s altar evokes the feeling that we have as individuals in relation to these forms, there is an inherent heaviness, both in its physical presence as well as in the gravity of the moment it anticipates. Bypassers are welcome to observe from the street, but should they want to take a closer look they must venture through mechanical doors into a small white room congested with a much bigger crowd than it fits. But fear not. A fast-track, pre-queue, VIP, front seat, backstage, golden circle, guided tour ticket will be available.
