Composer, director, vocalist and performance artist Marcela Lucatelli presents an installation and performance conjugating the promises of a new world infused in samba and apocalypse. The host is
the bunker for tomorrow’s war, the war that has not yet come, that may never come, that may come tomorrow. Costumes and props and precious artefacts from the artist’s earlier performances become the living stage for a new character. This is Pomba-Gira: the Afro-Brazilian black magic epitome that personifies female sexuality, beauty and desire. Frenzied drums, heavy tropical rain and synthetic white noise melt the notions of space and time. Taking off from a bossa-nova line towards what the humanity project could never dream to be. So nice. Life would be so nice.
The performance takes place in platform BUNKER – a Cold War bunker located in a backyard in Frederiksberg. The bunker was taken into use as an exhibition platform in 2020, with support from Frederiksberg Fonden and the Danish Art Foundation to the establishment of new exhibition platforms.
platform BUNKER is an untraditional but inclusive and intimate exhibition space that allows artists to rethink the audience experience. Due to its size, vault and building materials, the bunker is ideal for audiovisual showings that stimulate the senses in 360-degree experiences. Our program presents site-specific interdisciplinary and performative exhibitions created by national and international artists.
