In Siri Vittrup’s first solo exhibition, we are let into a color explosion that explores the human paradoxical longing for stillness and at the same time constant change.
One finds oneself in a complete dreamy, colorful and energetic universe where sky, rivers and mountains meet the eye and textiles hang from the ceiling.
With works that consists of rabbit skin glue and pigment, colored textiles and paper, watercolor and oil on canvas, Vittrup explores in an intuitive and playful manner the relationship between colors and the mixed media expressions. Always in search of capturing the fleeting present and sustaining it in all its fragility.
She aims at portraying utopian moments, which for a moment seem to unite man, nature and the city, – but always with a longing for something that lies behind the horizon, the next street or beyond the real world.
The main motifs are often people in colorful robes, who almost blend in with other humans and animals, who merge with their surroundings, have stopped their everyday routine or are on their way somewhere, followed by horses or dogs.
