The art space Møstings is transformed into a fictional seaside hotel, when the multimedia artist Filip Vest (b. 1995) takes over the exhibition spaces with an immersive installation and several performances. Here the audience is presented with a surreal vacation resort, but just below the luxurious surface, stories are lurking about climate crisis, human isolation, escapism, and doom.
During Art Week 2023 you can experience a performance in the exhibition Tuesday June 6, at 8 p.m.
Here we follow a couple on a vacation resort, which they cannot abandon, and where a natural disaster seems imminent. Small stones start to emerge in the buffet, indentations in the mattresses are reminiscent of volcano craters, and a weird smell of smoke mixes with the spa aroma therapy. Meanwhile the couple attempts to reinvent themselves and each other in a game with new identities.
Step into a universe where all is porous; nature and culture, identities and relations, past, present, and future melt together, whilst both small and big movements affect each other, both plate-tectonically and relationship-dynamically.
