Join us for the opening of Brug mig, a solo exhibition by Danish artist, Marie Søndergaard Lolk at Galleri Susanne Ottesen.
Marie Søndergaard Lolk’s practice is both minimalistic and accumulative, bringing together wide-ranging materials through application methods that are often surprising. She works with an installation-based approach that lies between painting, collage and sculpture, delving into the economy of visibility and the intricacies of language and (mis)communication. Using mostly low-value materials, from foamboard to chipboard and tissue paper, she creates teasingly ambiguous works that push out from the wall, hinge from it, or drag you in.
For her forthcoming solo show, Brug mig, Søndergaard Lolk will present new works that speculate on interior design, modes of display, archives, and subjective and nonlinear notions of time, reconfiguring and appliqué-ing existing works and elements from collaborative works
into new temporary environments. Toying with scale, displacements, the awkwardness of spatial logic, and varying levels of attention or inattention, the works are at the same time imbued with a sense of mobility, humour, presence and with disconnect and that which is forgotten.
