Lene Adler Petersen’s multifaceted artistic practice is investigated and unfolded through a number of artists’ books, created in collaboration with Louise Hold Sidenius. The first five books are presented in an exhibition in Bladr.
Sundrawings show photographs of the sun falling in through the windows and moving across the walls of Lene Adler Petersen’s home and studio on Bülowsvej. The sun flickers past ongoing art projects and everyday objects and creates detailed patterns across spaces and things. The photographs are accompanied by a poem by Ursula Andkjær Olsen.
At the desk consists of drawings by Lene Adler Petersen and poems by Marianne Larsen written specifically for the book.
Things, Some Couples, first published in 1980, is now being republished with the book Arrangements for Liberty Leads the People, which has never been published. Both books consist of photographs and a poem written by Lene Adler Petersen. In both books, conventional hierarchies, arrangements and couples are deconstructed, so that differences between genders and gendered division of labour do not appear self-evident and natural.
Liberty Leads the People. The Things, Your History. Free Yourself from the Things consists of photographs of the reconstruction of the tableau (of the same name) in 2021 for SMK’s exhibition called After the silence. The book shows a registration of the 630 objects included in the work.
The exhibition is curated and produced by Louise Hold Sidenius.
