Exhibition: Lise Harlev – Colors Fade In The Sun
12 maj 202325 Jun 2023

Illustration, Lise Harlev, Colors Fade In The Sun

Colors Fade In The Sun is the title of Lise Harlev’s new text piece for Skjold Contemporary. For the windows of Boldklubben Skjold, she has created 15 short statements about the behavior of materials when subjected to heat, cold, moisture, light and time. With phrases such as “Sweat Leaves Skin Salty”, “Metal Rusts Under Water” and “Soap Breaks Down Grease” she points out the small but ongoing dramas in the world of materials. The statements could be descriptions of what members of the football club might experience during physical training, or the material processes we all witness daily. The exhibition is a continuation of Harlev’s interest in objects, materials and surfaces. In her work, text and its visual properties are often given a central role. With Colors Fade In The Sun, she also draws attention to the tonality of the words themselves and their possible secondary meanings.
