KOMBINATION is an exhibition by the visual artist Hrafnhildur Halldórsdóttir in Galleri 1,4 m3. In the gallery space, a window viewed from the street, a painting has been deconstructed into layers and placed so it presents itself as an abstract work in three dimensions. The depth of the space and the confines of the window are all elements which are utilised in order to create a combination of planes of colour, dimensions and textures and transforms the window into a piece of work.
Hrafnhildur Halldórsdóttir often uses the play of coincidences in her abstract paintings, textile-based sculptures and installations. This investigation is based on an interest in the intuitive process and the improvised action within a given framework. The fine balance between intention and coincidence, structure and freedom and not least time and process are all ongoing concerns in her practice.
Hrafnhildur Halldórsdóttir (born 1973) is originally from Iceland, studied at Glasgow School of Art (BA and MFA) and is now based in Copenhagen. She works with sculpture, textile, painting and installations.
