For her exhibition at O—Overgaden, Monia Sander Haj-Mohamed creates an installation of her large, characteristic meditation drawings, which she has been producing her entire life. The drawings are created as meditation, some indoors, some under the open sky, where Haj-Mohamed has drawn a line over a piece of paper for up to 16 hours at a time.
1:1 meetings with the artist and performative readings by the visiting audience will be accompanying the drawing. Through these initiatives, Haj-Mohamed wishes to highlight the resonant meeting between people, our conversations, and individual experience as the heart of the exhibition.
Monia Sander Haj-Mohamed often works with performance, text, and drawing. With references to theater, she investigates the scope of the performative space, where reality and fiction are entangled, and the distinction between real people and literary characters are obstructed.
