On the occasion of his first solo exhibition with Hans Alf Gallery, Two Worlds, which opens Friday June 2nd, Martin Bigum takes us on a fascinating journey through his newest body of works, and gives the audience a glimpse into the passionate work process and curious mind of an artist.
Aside from being a magnificent painter, Martin Bigum is also a gifted communicator – both in terms of conveying his own practice, and art history in general. Between 2009-19, Bigum participated in every single episode of The Art Quiz on DR. Through the years, he has written numerous essays on art for national newspapers such as Weekendavisen, Politiken and Berlingske. In 2015, Gyldendal published the artist’s autobiography ‘My Personal History of Art’, which centered around his artistic and personal inspirations. In 2020-21, DR2 aired the documentary ‘The Art of My Life” featuring Bigum.
During the talk, the audience is encouraged to ask questions about the artist’s practice and his current exhibition.
