Opening people’s eyes to art has been the cornerstone of Jan Falk Borup’s work life for over a decade. His big passion is to explain art, so everyone understands it without making it shallow or oversimplifying. Jan holds a degree in visual art from The Jutland Art Academy in Aarhus and Middlesex University in London. But rather than pursuing a career as an artist, he saw the opportunity to use online media to mediate art. When he founded Artweek in 2012, he had already put his mark on the mediation of Danish contemporary art. In 2004 Jan founded the online magazine Aarhus.nu, which later became Kunsten.nu and developed into a national art publication. Jan Falk Borup has been a member of C-SAM (Center for contemporary art Aarhus), chairman and vice-chair of UKK (association of young artists and art mediators), and a board member of “Kunsternes Påskeudstilling.” In 2017 Jan Falk Borup was awarded the N.L Høyen Medal by The Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Akademiraadet) for his outstanding contribution to the mediation of art.
